Two talks on complexity, thus exploring the potential of computational strategies and tecniques to support any stage of analisys, design and communication of multidimensional complex results.
Systemic design and computational strategies
Fabrizio Valpreda, Cristian Campagnaro
Corso di Studi in Disegno Industriale, Facoltà di Architettura I - Politecnico di Torino
Systemic design tries to manage complexity in the same way as nature does, adapting and evolving itself. To accomplish such a task, digital and computational technologies can become a valid tool at any stage of analisys, design and communication of multidimensional complex results.
The tyranny of the pixel in visualization
Andrew Vande Moere
Design Lab, Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning, Università di Sidney
Andrew Vande Moere explores in his work as teacher and researcher the symbiotic relationship between creative design and the field of information visualization.
This talk will expose a selection of projects that aims to translate abstract data into tangible and sensible representations.
Adrian Bowyer, Università di Bath
RepRap stands for “Replicating Rapid-prototyper”, a 3D printer designed to reproduce itself, printing its own parts. A project inspired by open-source ethic enquires the entiire manufacturing system. Adrian Bowyer will meet the audience, together with the first italian RepRap, built in Torino by ToDo design studio.
